Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir us one of the few red grapes that’s commonly made into red, rose, white and sparkling wine.  The leaves of Pinot Noir are generally smaller than those of Cabernet Sauvignon or Syrah.  The vine is typically less vigorous that either of those varieties too.  The grape cluster is small and conico-cylindrical shaped like a pine cone.

The tremendously broad range of bouquets, flavors, textures, and impressions that Pinot Noir can produce sometimes confuse.  Broadly, the wines tend to be of light to medium body with an aroma reminiscent of black and/or red cherry, raspberry and to a lesser extent currant and many other fine small red and black berry fruits.

We use our Heron grown Pinot Noir in our rosé, balancing with our Solaris grapes.

If you’d like to explore our grapes and wine-making in more detail, our vineyard tours will give you the perfect insight and better still, tasting too
