Forest School Meg is an experienced outdoor educator with a background in teaching and a deep belief in the power of child-led, nature-based learning. With years of experience planning and delivering engaging sessions, she brings both structure and spontaneity to Heron Farm - creating spaces where children feel safe enough to take risks, build confidence and discover what they’re capable of.
Meg’s approach is rooted in the core principles of Forest School: long-term development, resilience through challenge, respect for the natural environment, and nurturing the whole child.
Children working with Meg can expect:
Clear boundaries and safe practice,
Encouragement without pressure,
Practical skill-building,
A calm, steady & fun adult presence,
A healthy sense of humour and the freedom to get muddy.

She brings creativity, strong organisational skills and a values-led approach to everything she does. Whether facilitating a team den build in the orchard, guiding safe tool use, or leading reflection around a fire circle, Meg creates an environment where children feel capable, respected and connected - to each other and to nature.

A full day of outdoor adventure, creativity and woodland skills. Our Forest School Holiday Club gives children the chance to spend the day immersed in nature, building confidence, learning practical skills and enjoying the freedom to explore.

Throughout the day, children will take part in a variety of forest school activities including den building, bushcraft skills, nature crafts and woodland exploration. Guided by the children and  facilitated by Forest School Meg, sessions balance structured skill-building with child-led play, allowing children to follow their curiosity while developing resilience, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Children might spend the morning constructing dens in the orchard, learning knots and shelter building techniques, before moving on to the afternoon’s bushcraft activities such as safe tool use, fire lighting or outdoor cooking. Creative moments are woven throughout the day, with opportunities to craft using natural materials, whittle small keepsakes, weave with natural fibres or create woodland art.

The day includes time for free exploration, games, storytelling around the fire circle and moments of calm connection with nature. There’s always a rough plan but the day is fully open for the children’s curiosities. By the end of the day, children leave muddy, proud of what they’ve made and full of stories from a day spent outdoors.

What the day may include:

  • Den building and shelter design-
  • Bushcraft skills and safe tool use
  • Fire lighting and campfire cooking
  • Nature crafts and woodland art
  • Games, exploration and teamwork challenges
  • Quiet reflection time around the fire circle

Holiday Club sessions are designed to be active, engaging, supportive, and fun, helping children build independence, confidence, new friendships and a lasting connection with the natural world.

Children should bring a packed lunch, water bottle and wear suitable outdoor clothing including wellies, warm layers and waterproofs/  sun cream & sunhat
